Why do we use PayPal?
When you make a payment on most Small Retail Shop websites, what essentially happens is that your card details simply emailed to the shop owner, the email is opened and the payment is processed on a hand held machine. This is usually because the profit they make does not warrant full banking integration on the website - and that is fair enough.
The problem with this is if the email security is breached or the server (which may have little to do with the shop itself) is attacked successfully - which they frequently are, these details are at risk of theft - even if the email has seemingly been deleted.
For this reason we will continue to use PayPal or other trusted third party payment processors to handle My Cotton Nightie payments. PayPal will spend serious amounts of money on keeping its systems secure, whereas most hosting companies where small business websites are stored will do the basics and nothing else.
